Llanelli Community Heritage has taken part in a series of activities and workshops in the village of Felinfoel targeting local community groups young and old, in order to promote local heritage.
Visits to schools, community groups and participation in a number of community events such as the carnival helped the group to gather information through oral interviews. All the information gathered from these activities was used to design the heritage panel situated on the green opposite Holy Trinity Church. From the contents of the panel a heritage guide booklet and leaflet was subsequently produced for the village.
The books and leaflets were presented at a large community heritage event on Wednesday the 27th of September at the Calsonic Kansei Club. Since then they have also been distributed at local schools and groups.
The members of Llanelli Community Heritage would like to thank the community of Felinfoel for their welcome and much appreciated cooperation in helping to bring this project to a successful conclusion. Thanks must also be extended to Lisa Jones and the Communities First team and of course the grant provider Gronfa 1 Fund without whose help this project could not have been realized.
The photos below show the Felinfoel Heritage Guide booklet and leaflet together with pupils of Bryngwyn Comprehensive School, Ysgol Iau Felinfoel (Felinfoel Junior School) and Ysgol Gyfun y Strade.
