Hands off our Heritage! More of Llanelli`s Heritage to disappear...
* CCC have now demolished the row of Victorian shops that remained in Upper Park Street,
despite stating that they intended retaining it in their Pemberton Retail Park Planning Application.
They will be replaced by modern buildings totally out of character with the
Grade II listed Zion Chapel and Zion Chapel Sunday School which still stand in Upper Park Street.
These listed buildings are also under threat as well as the 200 year old Island House pub.
As is usual in Llanelli "regeneration" means "demolition".
* The Planning Inquiry into the plans to
build 450 homes at Stradey Park has now completed and a decsion is awited.
If approved this application will destroy the area provided by the Stradey Estate
to the people of Llanelli for recreation by allowing the main pitch and all of the training pitches to be built on.
This is part of Llanelli's heritage and should be retained.
