Launching the LCH Blue Plaque Book April 18th 2009.

When Llanelli Community Heritage was founded, less than five years ago, it set out to put the history of the town onto the streets where it was made. At that time there were no Blue Plaques in the town.

With the success of LCH’s Blue Plaque scheme in marking over 30 important sites within Llanelli Town centre, Seaside, Morfa, Furnace, Felinfoel, Tyisha, Five Roads and Pwll, there became a need to produce a list of all the sites, and the people, events, or sites that they commemorate. ,.

With the aid of Llanelli Town Council sponsorship, the members, advisory panel and Committee, Llanelli Community Heritage have produced a book, which sets out to list the existing plaques and explain what is commemorated by each plaque. The book provides maps to assist in locating the Blue Plaque sites, along with photographs and drawings.

Priced at Ł5.00 it provides a handy reference work for tourist and local alike to enable the reader to discover the people places and events that have helped shape Llanelli.
